Product Introduction
Applications
The two‑rope grab is mainly used in conjunction with overhead cranes, port machinery, and winches. It is widely applied in ports, power plants, terminals, chemical plants, etc., for handling various loose bulk materials such as ore, coal, and slag – for loading, unloading, stockpiling, feeding, and similar operations.
Working Principle
On a double‑drum winch, one set of drums leads out a wire rope for supporting, and the other set leads out a wire rope for closing. After the grab opens, it is lowered onto the material. The closing rope is then drawn in, pulling the beam and causing the two jaws to close. The bucket is now filled with material. The supporting rope lifts the loaded grab, and the crane moves it to the discharge area. The supporting rope remains stationary while the closing rope is paid out, allowing the grab to open and discharge the material.
